Turbo charge my automatic Mazda protege5?

i have a 2003 mazda protege5, it is an automatic with overdrive. Is it worth it to turbo charge it? or to put a sporty exhaust on it...would it sound the same as a manual transmission? also would i get the same horsepower gain as a manual if i turbo'd it and put an exhaust on it?
