If a straight hole is drilled from north pole to the equator, and a ball is dropped into the hole?

It will bounce an infinite number of times of decreasing height until the bounce height is an infinitesimally small amount, at which point the ball will come to rest at an equilibrium position equidistance from the entry and exit points. Of course this is uming Earth has no axis spin, leading to the equatorial bulge.
