Cannot get reverse on Nissan skyline?

My 1988 R31 (Australia) Skyline 3Ltr manual has suddenly decided not to let me into reverse gear. Something is stopping the lever going to the reverse position. I can still get other forward gears and 5th as normal. Anybody help please?
