Why is the Libertarian party the 3rd largest...?

I am a libertarian myself, though no longer a member of the LP. I was once heavily involved in my local LP. I think the the LP and other libertarian organizations should focus on education rather than actually trying to get elected. I think, if the history of our time is written by honest people, the LP will be looked at much like the Free Soil Party. The Free Soil Party never actually elected anyone. But they did have a huge impact though education. It served as an organization around which abolitionists organized and through education and persuading others they accomplished their primary goal.
