What is the difference in death rate between he Swine flu of today and the 1918 Influenza epidemic?
not sure of exact numbers, but more people died as a result of the 1918 influenza epidemic than of the First World War! That is obviously considerable more than those who have died of the Swine Flu in recent months. It is thought that anywhere from 50 - 100 million people were killed world wide by the Spanish Flu. In Australia approx 12,000 people died from Spanish flu. By 6 July '09 there was only 429 confirmed deaths of Swine Flu. By 5th Aug '09 only 70 Australians had died of swine flu. Basically, the spanish flu was considerable worse than swine flu.
